Honey can practically be used on or for anything. The health benefits of this wonderful and priceless handy-work of the ever industrious bees can never be quantified. But regretfully many are not aware of the great deal they can gain from the daily use of this gift of nature. The honey have varied tastes, either Manuta or UMT honey. It is primarily composed of sugars like glucose and fructose; minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium, chlorine, sulphur, iron and phosphate. It also contains many vitamins like B1, B2, B6, B5, B3 and C all of which varies according to the qualities of the nectar and pollen. Besides this, it contains also in small amounts copper, iodine and zinc. Several kinds of hormones are also found in honey that are very helpful for the body. It is fat free. It is cholesterol free. An excellent choice for anybody with a dieting plan. Have you a jar of honey in your home? If no, please go get one and go with me on a honey ride of the health importance of honey.

AS QUICK SUPPLIER OF ENERGY - As monosaccharides with it's main attributes - fructose and glucose and the high osmotic pressure (osmotic value), honey as a carbonhydrate food is quickly and directly absorbed into the blood, thereby giving energy quickly to various organs and systems of the body like the brain, muscles, heart, kidney etc. This is even more possible because the absorption of fructose is faster than that of glucose.
AS NATURAL ANTISEPTIC - Honey contains anti-microbial and anti-bacterial agents which prevents infections by killing all bacteria in and around wounds. So by applying honey to your cuts, grazes as surgical dressing, you are creating a sterile medium where no bacteria will survive because honey do not accommodate bacteria. And your wound are sure to heal in no time. It is interesting to note that medical journals cite more than 600 different cases where honey have been utilized to treat wounds.
AS ANTIOXIDANT - Honey as a good source of body defenders plays a beneficial role of boosting the prevention of cancer and heart diseases. Because it is fat and sugar free, adequate and daily intake of it should cause you no harm of too much fat clogging around the heart giving you heart problems. Though honey supplies you a great deal of energy, compared to sugar, it gives your body 40% less calories. So it does not add you weight, so diabetes and obesity is out of the question. Honey is better for brain than normal sugar. The free sugar molecules of honey helps your brain, being the largest consumer of sugar, giving you the healthiest of energy to function optimally, checking fatigue. Honey helps in blood cleansing, circulation and formations. It helps and protects against capillary problems. It prevents you from having Arteriosclerosis (a disease which brings about the gradual deterioration of the walls of the arteries through the body). Thus it helps to boost blood flow through the arteries of the brain, also checkmating stroke.
AS NATURAL BEAUTY THERAPY - Many, especially women desire radiant, healthy skin and hair and honey can help you achieve this goal. Honey has wonderful minerals and amino acids that is excellent for your beauty enhancements. For a lustrous shine to your hair, mix 1 teaspoonful of honey into 4 cups of warm water and use as hair rinser. Honey also makes a good lotion for dry patches of the skin either on hands, elbows, knees, ankles or other parts of the body. Mix 1 teaspoonful each of honey and olive oil and half teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply on the desired part of the body and wash off after 15 minutes. Continue it, twice daily (morning and night) until desired effect is achieved. Moreso, honey mixed with ground almonds makes an excellent facial cleansing scrub. For a better face mask, add 1 tablespoonful of honey to an egg-white and stir properly. Add 1 teaspoonful of glycerine and about one-quarter cup of flour. Mix all. Apply all over the face and leave for 15 minutes before washing off. You will be delighted by the result after some few days. For a perfect moisturizer, mix 2 tablespoonful of honey with 2 teaspoonful of whole milk. Smooth-rub over the face and throat. Rinse off after 15 minutes and finish with the splashing of cold water.
OTHER HEALTH TIPS - Have you heard or seen an example of a kind of special honey substance produced by the worker bees? It is called the royal jelly. This nutritious substance contains sugar, protein, fats, minerals and vitamins. It is used to combat health complications caused by tissue deficiency and body frailty. Do you suffer from sore throat? Honey with lemon juice should do the trick. Into a large serving spoon, pour a teaspoonful of honey, top up with lemon juice and swallow whole every few hours until you are good. Honey is also known to take good care of indigestion, gastroenteritis and stomach ulcers. A research conducted in New Zealand by Somaletal (1994) at Waikalo shows that Manuta honey successfully inhibits the growth of Helicobacter pylori, the organism responsible for upper gastro-intestinal dyspepsia of stomach ulcers. Because sodium, calcium, potassium and magnesium are all found in honey, honey helps to maintain the acid-alkaline balance of the body. It also helps in shortening the duration of diarrhoea treatment. It curtails allergic reactions that comes with seasonal changes. It also fights cold, hangovers and sleeplessness. All of this and more are the goodies you derive from using honey. However if it is possible for you to take your honey undiluted, it is the best. So have you gotten that jar of honey?
